User Experience, Frontend, Code and Life

Day 58-60 - Betalist exposure, email campaign, Slack Group and more.

life UserBit entrepreneurship

Betalist Feature

UserBit got featured on Betalist on thursday morning (1 am EST). Over the last 2 days 250 people hit the site from Betalist. The breakdown of countries and conversion rate looks something like this:

betalist stats

All together in the last 3 days I had around 30 signups (11 from USA) and it cost me $129 to submit to betalist. So, ~$0.60 Cost per click and ~$5.38 per conversion. The fact that UserBit is a focused on a very niche market (UX teams and professionals) might have something to do with it.

Compared to Google ads (I’ve been running a small experiment over the last month) which brought users at $2.11 per click and a cost per conversion of $4.62.

Overall, well done ads would bring me more relevant users at a cheaper conversion cost than Betalist. Lots to learn here still, but I’m making progress.

Slack Group

I think real time communication with UserBit users will be key in making fast improvements and building the right product. I’m leveraging slack to build out a community where I can communicate with people directly. I also created an email campaign for existing users to inform them of the new features and invite them to our slack group. To my surprise, the campaign email ended up in promotions tab of gmail. I tend to ignore promotions tab completely in gmail so this is kind of worrisome. Not sure how I can send update emails to updates rather than promotion.

Self-interview implementation

On the implementation side, I’m working on a self-interview feature where UX pros can get answers to their interview questions passively. I know this is a no-no in UX world but I strongly believe that something is better than nothing. So survey type answers are still better than missing out on a stakeholder or user perspective completely.

I am kind of glad for the holiday slump so I can experiment with some of these growth strategies and work on some new features. Learning a lot.
